Heritage, Museums and Galleries

Bradford District is home to some of the most exciting museums and galleries in Yorkshire.  These are just a few examples:

Bradford Industrial Museum - Moorside Mills was built in 1875, and is now the popular Industrial Museum, which features textile machinery, steam power, engineering and motor vehicles.  Enjoy the splendour of the Mill Owner's House, visit the more humble Mill-workers' terraces, and admire the team of working horses.

Bracken Hall Countryside Centre - Bracken Hall is situated on the edge of Shipley Glen, a popular beauty spot. The Centre has displays relating to the natural history, geology, archaeology and local history of the area. The colourful interactive wildlife exhibits delve into the lives of badgers, frogs and  bats, and tanks contain a variety of local water creatures and mini-beasts. There are interactive displays about other animals and foodwebs.

Lister Park and Cartwright Hall Art Gallery - Lister park, a green flag award winner, is open to the public throughout the year. Facilities include, Cartwright Hall Art Gallery, a boating lake and coffee shop, botanical gardens, bandstand, Mughal water gardens, adventure children’s play area, bowling greens and ball courts.

Set within the beautiful surroundings of Lister Park, Cartwright Hall is Bradford's civic art gallery and offers an exciting programme of contemporary exhibitions, as well as four permanent galleries.  The main collections consist of 19th and 20th century art as well as a fantastic collection of international contemporary prints and South Asian arts and crafts.
